The Masters Bi/Plurilinguism and Interculturality programme provides graduates with theoretical, analytical and research skills to enable them contribute meaningfully to critical and educational analysis of bi-plurilingual and intercultural practices. In public administration and public policy development and implementation. They are able to develop their thinking capacity likely to improve the education quality from the contributions of the education sciences among which the language sciences play an important role while remaining primarily suitable for their context. Specifically, the graduates will be offered opportunity to develop theoretical and practical foundations of education sciences in link with the teaching bi-plurilingual and intercultural practices; to resolve issues related to the teaching of languages and culture; to build a research method in education sciences associated with intercultural and bi-plurilingual education; to analyses the diverse education approaches regarding the bi-lingual and intercultural teaching.

The Masters of Arts in Bi-plurilingual and interculturality program is delivered in two academic years Public Administration and Public Policy is delivered in two academic years through coursework, thesis and examination, spread over four semesters, as a requirement at University of Abomey-Calavi. The course is delivered by lectures (from full and associate professors from UAC and African universities), assignments, seminars, tutorial presentations and using computers and LCD projectors. The program is assessed and monitored using various tools including students class attendance lists, supervision, continuous assessment tests, individual and collective assignments, field work, end of semester examinations, training course for the students. A combined use of these tools also ensures quality delivery of the programme backed up by theoretical and practical knowledge. Students at the end of the courses must score 12/20 to pass which is the University course grading standard applied to all postgraduate courses after defending a thesis. Upon completion of the MA in Bi-plurilingualism and interculturality program, the learner is able to identify education and training needs of different groups of population while taking into account linguistic and cultural dimensions along with those that are gender sensitive; to conduct critical thinking of the quality and relevance of the current provision in bilingual and intercultural education; to participate in the designing, planning and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of bi-plurilingual and intercultural programs of education and training tools (including curricula, plans of training and didactic materials) meeting needs in the field within the framework of enforced education policies; to implement researches on African languages and cultures on one hand and in the other hand to exploit the outcomes at the didactic level, in order to insure qualitative bi-plurilingual and intercultural teaching; to insure a qualitative training thanks to a specialization in a specific domain and the mastery of its specific didactics (language, mathematics, social sciences, science of life and earth); to analyze public policies and innovation along with the improvement of the quality of education while taking into account national languages and cultures and the articulation of the formal and non-formal sub-systems, the funding of education for the schooled and drop-out- of –school people. The master degree also gives access to PhD curricula for the successful learners.

The overall objective of the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility programme is to promote sustainable development and ultimately contribute to poverty reduction by increasing the availability of trained and qualified high-level professional manpower in Africa.
